GALA day

GALA Celebration day!!

What's up bloggers and welcome back to my Blog.

On the 25th of November Waikowhai Primary School is having a celebration day from 10am-3pm. We are having it because plastic bags and other bad stuff are being made so the whole school has decided to have a gala day and make sustainable products to save our world.

It's not only making sustainable products but we are also learning cultural dances. Everyone will be in one cultural group. We are also playing games so you can come too. Two things that I'm learning from this is how to sew and how to do some European dances. I know lots of people are learning stuff too like other cultural dances and how to make other sustainable products.

The steps to make a Tote bag can be quite hard if you don't know how to sew.
1. get two pieces of cloth/fabric.
2.use pins to pin the fabric together on the sides and the bottom but not the top otherwise you can't put anything in.
3.sew the bag together on the sides with the pins and when you get to close to a pin take the pin out and keep going until you've done all the edges except for the top.
4.turn the bag inside out and then iron it.
5.get some cloth/fabric and measure it to be 70cm long. These are your straps.
5.sew the straps on in a shape that looks like this

then you are finished.

I think this is going to be a good event because we are helping the environment and we are also learning new stuff.

These are three of the bags our class has made.
The reason how this is connected to sustainability is that there is plastic bags that are made for a single use but these tote bags that we are making are made for multiple use and it's not bad for the environment.
